Michael Bowyer
received his Bachelor of Music degree from
Virginia Commonwealth University in 1993. He received
his Master of Arts degree from George Mason University
in 1995. Bowyer is an enthusiastic promoter of new works for
flute, as well as contemporary classical and film music.
While at George Mason he was a winner in the GMU Student
Concerto Competition and performed in the GMU Honors Recital.
He was a finalist in the 1998 Flute Society of Washington's
Young Artist Competition.
Bowyer performs as a soloist
in the Friday Morning Music Club concert series. He is
a member of the Columbia Flute Choir as well as Potomack
Flutes. He has performed in master classes for Keith Underwood,
Bart Feller, and
William Montgomery (University of Maryland). In 1998
Bowyer toured Germany and Austria with the Washington
Symphony Orchestra as principal flutist. He has also
performed with the Pan-American Symphony and the Friday
Morning Music Club Orchestra.
Melvin Lauf, Jr.
is a graduate from the Armed Forces School of Music, having
performed on trumpet, flute, and piccolo with the 113th Army
Band at Fort Knox, Kentucky (1990-1994). While at Fort Knox,
he performed frequently with the Army Community Theater (ACT)
and the Elizabethtown Community Band in addition to performing
solo recitals. He has studied with Frances Fuge of University
of Louisville.
Since 1994, Lauf has been stationed at Fort Myer, Virginia with
the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps. He performs regularly on
piccolo, flute, alto flute, and bass flute and is now also playing
the harp. Lauf is the founder and director of Potomack Flutes
and a member of the Columbia Flute Choir. His works for flute
are published by Nourse Wind Publications and FLUTE.NET

Susan Moser
received her Bachelor of Music cum laude degree
from Cornell College and her Master's of Music degree in flute
performance from DePaul University where she studied with
Donald Peck of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and with Mary
Stolper. She has performed in masterclasses of Geoffrey Gilbert,
Trevor Wye, Donald Peck and Bonita Boyd. Ms. Moser is an avid
flute teacher with her own flute studio. Locally, she has been a
featured soloist with the Old Bridge Chamber Orchestra and performs
regularly with the Mount Vernon Chamber Orchestra. She is a Staff
Sergeant in The United States Army at Ft Myer, VA, where she plays
the fife, writes and arranges music for The Old Guard Fife &
Drum Corps.
Steven Tung
received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical
Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State
University. He has played flute on and off at various
churches and plays mostly for his own enjoyment. He is
a member of the Columbia Flute Choir.
